Great vid! I wish it had more views.
Its really hard to find videos that showcase repeat tests for all type of mic’s.
Ill definitely be taking what you said into consideration when setting up my camera rig!

I was wondering how to use the ECZ-990. I just bought one and it of course didn’t come with directions. Do you simply plug it into your camera and turn it on or is there more to it?
thank you for …
thank you for explaining this…well done

hey, thank so much for your video.. but I have to agree with StabbyMcButterPants.. and your video is a good example – during your talk with the wireless colar microphone there is a constant hum (you eventually can’t here it, as ears at a certain age, just cannot pick them up anymore)..
but again, thanks for your video – it’s a great comparison!
Hi, this is a …
Hi, this is a really great video about audio recording upgrade. Thanks a lot for your time on doing this… Very much appreciated! =)
I didn’t find any …
I didn’t find any objectionable hiss with these mics. However, the purpose of the video is to demonstrate some alternatives to the usually abyssmal on-board mics supplied with today’s camcorders. I agree that they aren’t high priced professional systems. I’m not a professional, just an average bloke trying to get reasonable sound inexpensively.
My problem with …
My problem with allot of the low end cheaper wireless mic systems is that the noise floor is too high for professional use. There is always a constant hiss that you just cannot get rid of. The mic is fine, but the electronics in my opinion are still lees than spectacular.

Hi CJ – i think that my last comment didn’t post so I am posting again. Excellent video…very generous of you to take all the time neccessary to make such a thorough tutorial.
Is that a special lens attachment on the front of your camera or the camera itself?? What kind of camera are you using?

CJ – really helpful video. thank you so much for taking the time to test all of those different scenarios…really thorough, really good of you.
Indoors, you can …
Indoors, you can rely on 40 ft with clear fidelity with a wirelesss lav. Outdoors, the mike is sensitive to wind . Although, the lav mike is still superior to the shotgun mike. Your other alternative is to have a helper “boom mike” you. My testing has been done without a sound crew because I find my budget won’t allow it. Good luck.
Does this work …
Does this work clear far away? I say in another video where he got 30ft and beyond it kept getting this static fuzzy noise more and more. Will it do that all the time? Cause I need a wireless lavalier that works atleast 40 feet away and still be perfectly clear.
Thx HD,

Thx HD,
The lavalier works well but for loud band rehearsals, I might be tempted to use my shotgun mike.
Hey C.J., thanks …
Hey C.J., thanks for the very informative video! Your lavalier microphone seems the best for speaking indoors and outdoors. Audio has always been my weak point and I was wondering what you might recommend for recording very loud interior band rehearsals. Thanks!!!
