Unfortunately you do lose some of the quality. we used the converter that comes with quick time, the converter takes a very long time and it does give it very ragged edges. That was when we used windows movie maker, but now we use Sony Vegas pro, Sony Vegas accepts nearly all codecs so we dont have to convert it any more.
