Are generic camcorder batteries just as good as more expensive brand-name (i.e. Sony, Canon) batteries?

They might be – but everyone I know that has bought them seems to have problems with them… Mostly that the camera does not want to recognize those 3rd party batteries. It does not happen all the time – and I am sure there are some folks who have better luck, but I’ve never met them.

I don’t want to deal with that headache, so rather than hope I am lucky, I just get them from the manufacturer. Yes, I know they are more expensive – but at least I know they work.
