Watts refers back to the power of the speakers while decibels will measure the loudness.  The timbre refers to the tonal quality of the sound.  Speakers acquired from different makers may have different timbres that will be conspicuous as the sound moves from spokesman to spokesman.  If you purchase elements from different brands be sure all of them have the same timbre.  The subwoofer is the driver that produces the lowest sound while the tweeter is the spokesman driver that produces the highest sound.  The midrange is the driver that produces the sounds at the middle of the audio range.
