Does camcorder loose battery life when connected to the pc and used as a webcam?

I have a digital camera/camcorder and it has a battery that to charge it you need to detach it from the cam and put it in the charger. Now, when the camcorder is connected to my pc and used as a webcam, will the battery loose charge?
